Mr. Jacob Lynn “Butch” Whitesell, 61, of 2520 Ferndale Drive, Burlington died at his residence on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 1:55 a.m. following several years of failing health. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Janice Cheek Whitesell who survives and the son of the late Jacob Caleb Whitesell and Christine Isley Whitesell who survives. He was the owner of Whitesell Draperies. He was a member of St. Mark’s Reformed Church, the Alamance Rotary Club, and the Alamance Country Club. In addition to the wife of the home and mother of Mebane, survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Janie Covington and husband, Nelson of Wilson; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Beverly W. Brown and husband, Joel of Burlington and Mrs. Beth W. Cook and husband, John of Mebane; and three brothers, Mr. Bob Whitesell and wife, Bonnie of Goldsboro, Mr. Bill Whitesell and wife, Sandy of Atlanta, GA, and Mr. Barry Whitesell of Charlotte. The funeral will be conducted at St. Mark’s Reformed Church on Sunday, January 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Ben Bishop. Burial will follow in St. Mark’s Reformed Church Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
