Facts and Events
[Snapp.FBK,fbc.FTW] Notes for JACOB SNAPP: Jacob Snapp inherited 450 acres on the north side of Tumbling Run from his father, including the dwelling house, which he was to share with his mother. He lived on this land until he put it up as security on a $1,000 loan from Christian Stover of Strasburg and in June 1800 apparently went to Tennessee where he purchased land in Washington and Sullivan Counties. He may have never moved his family to Tennessee because over the next several years he sold his Tennessee lands and on several of his deeds he was described as a resident of Shenandoah Co., VA. By 1810 he was back in Shenandoah County. ("From the Rhine to the Shenandoah" by Daniel Bly, p. 172) |
