D. Overmyer, to witness the marriage of their daughter, Miss Lena M., to Mr. John J. Clark. By 7 o’clock, the appointed hour, the spacious parlor was well filled and all were eager to get the first glimpse of the handsome couple. A few minutes past seven Mrs. Josephine Coots began playing the wedding march as the bridal party slowly marched in, led by the Rev. L. C. Smith. They took a position under a large wedding bell, suspended from the ceiling. Rev. L. C. Smith then stepped forward and in a most impressive manner tied the knot that bound the two loving hearts together, and with the blessings of God, pronounced them man and wife. The bride wore a dress of cream colored cashmere, trimmed in white silk and pearl lace and looked very pretty. The groom wore the proverbial suit of black, and the two made as handsome a couple as one could wish to see. The bridesmaid, Miss Cora Webb, wore a dress of cream colored satinet, trimmed with silk lace, while the groomsman, Mr. R. E. Simpson, like McGinty, was dressed in his best suit of clothes. http://www.millvillehistoryshasta.com/Overmyer.htm |
