The announcement of the death of J. H. Loy last Friday on the streets of Lewisburg created somewhat of a sensation as few of his many acquaintances had even any knowledge of his sickness Death claimed him early that morning after a brief illness of pneumonia, which had its beginning the previous week in a bad cold, and developed into the fatal malady last Tuesday. Mr. Loy contracted a cold by sudden cooling after being overheated while at work in the field during one of the extremely hot days.
Being passed 76 years of age, his constitution was unable to withstand the ravages of so trying a disease as pneumonia and it soon proved fatal.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the local UB church, conducted by Rev. Rasey, assisted by Rev. J.W. Miller of the Reformed Church. Burial was made in Sugar Grove Cemetery at Lexington.
The deceased is survived by his wife, who is now critically ill with the same malady that caused his death, two daughters Mrs. O. O. Coleman of West Alexandria and Mrs. Elwood Foutz of Hamilton and three sons Ernest, who is still at the home L. W. of Pyrmont and W. E. of Hamilton.
