In the 53rd year of his age means he was 52, which is consistent with a birth date of Nov 1698. The index gives his birth year as 1697, which might mean the contributor was thinking that he was age 53 at death, or might mean the contributor pushed his birth year a year earlier to avoid being too close to Elisha's birth date (as many compilers have at least tentatively done).
