He was documented in 1577 and may have been a descendant of an even older Spangenberg line, possibly born in Marksuhl where a Hans Kieselbach lived in 1550 and a Heinrich Kysselbach in 1518 who is documented to have paid taxes in the form of "two eights of corn" on behalf of the Baumgarten estate to the convent of Frauensee.
