Hyre, Jacob - entered service 1778 in Hampshire County, Virginia, there born 5/25/1757 or 8/1757; granted Pension 1833 in Lewis County, Virginia; died there 3/6/1841; married late August 1783 to Elizabeth Powers, Hardy County, Virginia; large family of children; had in 1834 son's-in-law Henry Jackson & John B. Brake; widow granted Pension age 83 in Lewis County, Virginia in 1843; resided there in 1848 age 91 when Joseph & Sophia Brake resided there; query letter in file states soldier's father was a Revolutionary War soldier also; query letter in file in 1938 from descendant Miss Martha Jean McKenna, Madison, Indiana.
