    Wednesday, December 22, 1880

    DIED - December 13, 1880, near Freedom, Lucas County, Iowa, Jacob Criteser, aged 71 years.

    "Uncle Jacob" as he was familiarly known in his neighborhood, was a native of Vermont and moved to this county in 1851. He was a good neighbor, a devoted husband, and an exemplary man in his walk and talk with the world.

    He was long a faithful member of the United Brethren Church. He was buried on the 14th last, the funeral services being conducted by the Rev. Wm. Delsey.
