Morocco Locals An interesting visitor to Morocco last Thursday was a great-great-granddaughter of Capt. Jacob Ash who had owned the Turkey Foot Grove farm years ago, having bought it from the government. Mrs. Hudson who lives in Cleveland, Ohio, called on Bob Williamson and Margaret Protsman to learn history of the area and visit the farm. Margaret's family has owned the Turkey Foot Grove farm for almost 100 years. It will soon be designated a Centennial Farm in Indiana.

Article from local newspaper, Wednesday, June 17, 1998 Jacob Ash was the first white man that came to Turkey Foot Grove.( It is an area in Beaver Twp., Newton Co. Indiana, which is located about 3 1/4 miles southwest of Morocco.) Jacob built his own little house and just like the " third little pig " he constructed the small home out of bricks that he made himself. As there still was Potawattomi teepees standing, Jacob also used the rushes from the teepees to cover the floors in his home.

Margaret Protsman Talks About Turkey Foot Grove from an article in a column called" The Farmer's Daug " by Donna Strole

Ohio Land The tax lists for Perry Twp., Wayne Co., Ihio show that Jacob Ash held the SW 1/4 of section 28 between 1819 and 1824. From 1835 to 1838 he is shown to hold 16 acres of the NW section 22.
