Jack Stanley, Topeka, was born May 27, 1931 to Jack "Dewey" and Laura Stanley in Belton, Texas, and passed away October 6, 2010 in Topeka.
As a young man, Jack traveled to several states for work but settled in Topeka. He was married to Carolyn Andres. Two sons were born to this union, Mike and Terry Stanley, Topeka. They were divorced. In 1970, he married Christie Ericksten. To this union were born daughters, Lori Knudsen and Juli Stanley.
For most of his life, Jack worked as an auto detailer, over 30 years of that for the Dodge dealership in Topeka. His work drew praise from staff and customers. He enjoyed staying busy with gardening and yard work and his family greatly appreciated his cooking skills. Jack was a thoughtful friend and neighbor who often surprised those around him by sweeping their sidewalk or shoveling snow and would offer to help people whenever he could. He loved to tell stories and was quite the exaggerator. Jack tended to be somewhat shy but was a very kind, caring person who had a soft heart for children, animals and the elderly. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by two brothers. His is survived by his wife, Christie; two daughters, Lori (Rick) Knudsen, Silver Lake and Juli Stanley, Topeka; sons, Mike and Terry Stanley, Topeka; six grandsons, three granddaughters, two great-grandsons; his sister, Margaret Brower; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home. Family will greet friends prior to the service, from 9:30 until 11. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
The Jack Stanley Memorial Fund has been set up at the Envista Credit Union for assistance with funeral expenses.
