Jack Edward Loughner, 67, of Graceton died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at his home. A son of Elmer Clayton and Grace Irene Frye Loughner, he was born Aug. 1, 1935, in Latrobe. He graduated from Laura Lamar High School in 1954 and from Indiana University of Pa.
He was a professor at the Community College of Allegheny County (Boyce Campus) for 28 years before retiring. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was first president of American Federation of Teachers No. 2067; past president of the Homer City Historical Society and the Homer-Center Boosters; a life-long member of the Coral-Graceton Fire Department.
He also was a member of the Red Barn Sportsmen, the community advisory committee for the Rt. 119 project, the Chestnut Ridge Golf League, Cherrywood Thursday Morning Floggers and American Legion Post 493, Homer City.
He enjoyed tennis, golf, motorcycling, biking, volleyball, ping pong, bocci and vacationing in Florida in the winter.
Surviving are his wife, Josephine Pietrowski Loughner; three sons: Jack Jr. of Elderton and his wife, the former Mandy Cashdollar, Bruce of Cleveland, Ohio, and his wife, the former Sharon Socol, and David of Cleveland; four grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Kio Loughner of Alameda, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Elmer Jr.
