June 14, 1922 -- June 10, 2003 ------ Jack R Fry, 80, of Sandusky CO Rd 60, Helena, died Tuesday at home. He was born on in Henrietta, Okla, to Rolland D and Clara (Pugh) Fry where his father worked in the oil fields. He graduated from Gibsonburg High in 1940 and was a master sergeant with the U.S Marine Corps, serving four years during World War II. He served in the South Pacific and occupation of Japan. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S Air Force with OH Troop Carrier Wing 433 and assisted with the Berlin Airlift. Mr. Fry worked for the Catalytic Construction CO as a supervisor in oil refineries for 20 years and Chemi-Trol Chemical CO as general manager of its tank division in Fremont for 18 years. He was the past president of the National Tank Fabricators of the U.S, a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg, the American Legion, Masonic Lodge 575, 32nd Degree, and the Shriners. On June 6, 1948, he married Jean A Champion in Genoa and they have been married 55 years. Surviving in addition to his wife are children Cheryl (Paul) Everett and J an R Fry of Helena; sister Margaret (Norman) Gerwin of Gibsonburg; and grandchildren Chris Everett of Helena and Stephanie Everett of Cincinnati. He is preceded by his parents. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg, with Rev. Blair Miller officiating. His body will lie in state one hour before the services. Burial: West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg. Memorials: Hospice of Memorial Hospital, the church's piano fund or Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Society of Baltimore, Md. |
