Israel Miller, their first born, well known in Western Pennsylvania, who lived all his life in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, was born in 1783. Married Miss Mary Sowers, of Brownsville, and there was born to them a very large family of sons and daughters. Only four of the ten who grew to maturity are now living; viz: Mrs. Freeman of Chicago, Ill., Horatio S., of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Mrs. Rhodes, of Burlington, Iowa, (widow) and Mrs. Graham, (widow) of Brownsville, Pa.

Israel Miller was during all his business life a merchant, a man of fine culture, and remarkable for his neatness of person. His life was eminently respectable. His wife died many years before him. He lived to the remarkable age of 89 years and is buried at Brownsville, Pa.

    Israel Miller, the first member of this family about whom we have definite information, was born April 6, 1783, died April 16, 1871. He was a property owner at Brownsville, Fayette county, Pennsylvania. His politic were Whig, afterward Republican. He married, May 6, 1810, Anna Maria, born June 9, 1790, died May 5, 1850, daughter of Michael and Doroty Sowers.
