From Colonial and Revolutionary Families in Pennsylvania -
He died at age 28. (1767)

Comment (CAH III) - This is an error. His will is dated 2 January 1810.

He possibly had a son Abraham by his first wife, Margaret Dickey. This son was named Abraham and supposedly died at age 28. Perhaps this is the fact that was misquoted as being his (the father's) age at death.

From the notes of Roberta North Ferree and Barbara Ferree Barden, unpublished.
His will, dated 2 January 1810 and proved 17 January 1810, is recorded in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Will Book K, Volume I, page 145.

In it, "out of consideration for kindness and services," leaves all his property to his step-son, Philip Copeland, should he survive; should he not survive, to be equally divided among the children of Philip Copeland.

Paul Trout gave bond in the sum of ten thousand dollars, as administrator, with the will annexed, of the estate of Israel Ferree, deceased, late of Strasburg Township, on 15 January 1821., with Isaac Trout and Christ an Shirts (sic) as sureties.

This administration was made necessary because of the death of Philip Copeland, executor of the last will and testament of Israel Ferree. Philip Copeland died in 1820/21.
