[edit] ObituarySt. Lawrence Plaindealer: Canton, N. Y., May 20, 1903 Our community is saddened by the death of a loved one, Mrs. J. A. Holcomb, who died May 8 after a long and serious illness. Isadore Butterfield was born in Pierpont, Dec. 11, 1858, daughter of Benjamin and Lucy Butterfield, was married Feb. 2, [illegible] to John A. Holcomb. Through her last illness she was tenderly cared for by her mother and loving hands did all that could be done to relieve her. She is survived by a husband and two children, Almon, aged 11 years, and Merle, aged four, a father and mother, two sisters, Olive Butterfield and Mrs. H. D. Langdon, one brother, Myron Butterfield of Canton, and father-in-law, Edmund Holcomb, whose home was with her. The deceased was a faithful Christian, loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a true wife, a loving and devoted mother. She will be greatly missed in that home. Words of comfort were spoken by Rev. John Steele from the text, "Immanuel, God with us." He truly said the world was better fro her having lived in it.[1] References
