[edit] About Isaac WestPurchased 300 acres in Orange Co., North Carolina Purchased 200 acres in Tryon Co., North Carolina The Battle of King's Mountain took place on October 7, 1780 during the Revolutionary War. Isaac lived about one mile from this spot. His daughter, Phoebe West Green, says that she saw a Tory strike him on the head with a sword in his own house. The wound inflicted was severe, and the room was completely covered with his blood. She was about nine years old at the time. She heard the firing of the small arms and cannon. She saw the wives, sisters, and mothers of the soldiers who were wounded in this battle carry them off the battlefield the next day. When Isaac and Susanna moved to Tennessee, it appears that Catherine, Phoebe, Abner and Susan stayed in South Carolina. In November of 1804, Isaac purchased 213 1/3 acres and he obtained a license to operate an "Ordinary". This is an eating place where a fixed price is charged for the whole meal and not for each dish.
