    'Isaac Lane of Middletown for the Love and Paternal affection which I bear unto my son Nathaniel Lane and as a part of his portion of my Estate to be valued after my Decease as Rough Land, give him land in the Newfield Quarter bounded easterly on my own land.' Signed and acknowledged July 16, 1739.

    Isaac Lane, 'In Consideration of the Paternal Love and affection I have for my son Cornelius Lane, as part of his portion of my estate, give him lands on West side of Connecticut River and East side of the highway against my Dwelling house, nine acres and an half; at Boggy meadow, at Lane's Point 4 acres more or less, and piece at Hornet bay.' Signed and acknowledged June 6, 1744.

    Isaac Lane d. Feb., 1745. His will and the inventory of his estate taken Feb. 28, 1744-5, by Samuel Peck and Joseph Hopkins, amounting to £417-9-9, were exhibited in court Mar. 5, 1744-5, by Cornelius Lane, one of the sons of said deceased and one of the executors of said will, who accepted the trust thereof.

    At the same court, Zacheus Lane a minor, aged 20 years, and Ashbill Lane aged 16 years, sons of Isaac Lane, made choice of Jonathan Allyn of Middletown to be their guardian."

    I, Isaac Lane of Middletown, in the County of Hartford, do make this my last will and testament: Imprimis: I give to my wife Elizabeth Lane 1-3 part of all my personal estate (except my apparrel) after my just debts and funeral charges are paid out of it, to be at her dispose; and the improvement of 1-3 part of my buildings and half an acre of land adjoining, to lye in convenient form, so long as she continues my widow and see cause to dwell in my house; but if she shall marry after my decease or shall leave my house, my will is that she then quit her right to any of my real estate. I give to my four sons, Nathaniel, Cornelius, Zacheus and Ashbell, all my lands, part whereof I have already given by deed of gift to two of my sons, namely, Nathaniel and Cornelius, which shall be accounted to them as so much of their part of my estate. I give to my youngest son Ashbell all my buildings and all my apparrel more than to my other children. I give to my three daughters, Mary, Mindwell and Hannah, the other 2-3 of all my personal estate (except my apparrel). And further, my will is that my two daughters, Mindwell and Hannah, shall have liberty to dwell in my house so long as they shall remain single. And I appoint my two eldest sons, Nathaniel Lane and Cornelius Lane, executors.
