Isaac Holman was born about 1779 or 1780, probably in Kentucky, the son of Henry and Jane Holman. Isaac was married on February 2, 1804 in Woodford County, Kentucky, to Susannah Martin, the daughter of Samuel Martin and Susanah Martin. Isaac Holman died, presumably in Woodford County, between November 2, 1812, when he sold land, and July 27, 1813, when his widow was taxed in her own name. Susanah (Martin) Holman was born May 27, 1782, reportedly at Blue Ridge, Virginia, and married second to William Long on August 6, 1816. She died on July 26, 1855 in Spring Grove township and was first person buried in Upper Spring Grove Cemetery near Troy Mills, Buchanan County, Iowa.
