"Ref." indicates a reference to a page in this or another church book. Information in square brackets [] was added by the editors, from other sources. Dates prior to immigration to Canada may be given according to the Julian ("old world") calendar, which was 12 days behind the Gregorian (modern) calendar in the 1800's. "Weidenfeld" and "Bergthaler" refer to notes in the register; "Weidenfeld" probably indicating that the family belonged to a congregation in Weidenfeld, East Reserve (near Gruenthal) prior to moving to the West Reserve, and "Bergthaler" indicating that the family joined the Bergthaler church when it split with the Sommerfeld church (confirmed by information from a grandson).
