Irene Ella McGuire, daughter of William and Susannah McGuire, was born in Farmland, Indiana, August 11, 1870, and departed from this life, March 11, 1934, at the home of her son, Hobart Garwood near Stuart, Iowa, at the age of 64 years and 7 months. She came to Dallas county with her parents when she was about three years of age and when fourteen years old moved to Guthrie county. She was united in marriage to Macy Eugene Garwood of Guthrie county, March 8, 1887. They moved to Dale City in the year of 1892, and have lived in the vicinity ever since. Mrs. Garwood united with the Methodist church in Dale where she was a member. To this union four children were born. There remains to mourn her departure her husband and her four children, William Everett of Glendon, Mrs. Ethel Mispel of Des Moines, Clinton Hobart of Stuart, Mrs. Mildred McNulty of Des Moines. Six sisters Mrs. Chas. Burnham of Redfield, Mrs. Will Leeper of Redfield, Mrs. Dollie Shellito of Valley Junction, Mrs. Deasie Stevens of Adel, Mrs. Bessie Robbins of Leads, South Dakota, Mrs. Ida Thompson of Adel. She was a kind affectionate mother and wife, a good neighbor, one who was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. For several years she had many afflictions to bear all of these she bore with patience. All that loving hand could do to relieve her was done, God, said "Come."
