Kaye, 88-year-old lifelong resident of the Sumner community andfather of State Rep. Robert B. Kaye, Chillicothe, died Wednesday attheIndian Hills Nursing Home here. Funeral services will be at the Sumner United Methodist Church at 2p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Lawrence Hern officiating. Burial will bein Lakeside cemetery at Sumner. Family visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the WirghtFuneral Home in Brookfield. Mr. Kaye was born Dec. 29, 1887, near Sumner, the son of Joseph andOrpha (Jones) Kaye. May 7, 1913 he married Miss Ester Semple ofRothville. She died Sept. 11, 1956. Mr. Kaye married Mrs. ElsieSeverance of Sumner on April 18, 1957. In addition to the son here, Mr. Kaye is survived by his wife of thehome in Sumner, two granddaughters, Mrs. Mariann Johnson ofGouverneaur, N.Y., and Miss Macy Kay, Denver, Colo.; twogreat-grandchildren, Wade and Hetty Johnson, Gouverneaur, N.Y.; twosisters, Mrs. Josephine Dille, St. Louis, and Mrs. Ruth Close, Sumner,and a brother Leslie I. Kaye, Sumner. Mr. Kaye was a member of the United Methodist Curch at Sumner, theCunningham Masonic Lodge there, and all Masonic bodies including MoilaShrine, St. Joseph; the Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine. A member of the board of Brookfield Production Credit Associationfor25 years and its president for 19 years, Mr. Kaye was also activein the Mendon Mutual Insurance Company for 36 years; a director of theSumner Exchange Bank; member of the Chariton County Farm Bureau, theboard of the Pershing memorial Hospital, Brookfield and the BrookfieldRotary Club.
