Ira can be found in the following census: 1880 Southampton Twp., Somerset, PA Federal Census 1930 Connellsville, Fayette, PA Federal Census Fayette County, Pennsylvania, Genealogical and Personal History (II) Ira S. , youngest son of John and Eliza Beal , was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania , May 4, 1877 . He was a small boy when his parents moved to Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania , and settled on a farm near Mount Pleasant , where Ira S. was educated in the public schools. He was reared on the farm, continuing at work with his father and for his brother about three years, then for two years was employed at the Juniata Coke Works. In 1896 he entered the employ of the Baltimore & Ohio railroad as brakeman. In 1903 he was promoted conductor, a position he now holds, with residence at Connellsville . He is a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and a Republican. He married February 15, 1899 , Emma Cowell , born in Waltersburg, Pennsylvania , daughter of Peter and Amanda Cowell , both born in Fayette county ; her father a farmer.
