Ida May is sometimes listed as Ida Mae. She lived in Pottawattamie County in 1925 as "mother-in-law." I assume this meant she lived with Grandma and Grandpa Lehmer at that time. Died in Council Bluffs. Buried Oct. 20, 1933 at IOOF cemetery in Smithville, Mo. Source: 1880 Census Mother E. is 35 and a cook. Sister N.J. Pennington is 16, born in Kansas, and is listed as a laundress. Was converted and joined the Little Platte Baptist Church at Little Platte at age of 15 in 1883 (sic) by Rev. Carter and Bob Jones. Handwritten letter dated Sept. 9, 1921, from 505 S. 21st St., Council Bluffs: "Dear Pa, I know you will be surprised to hear from me. We have written several letters to you but have never received an answer to any of them. We all want to see you so much and as we are going to make a visit to poor Will we thot it would be so nice for you to come up to St. Joe Saturday and all of us be togeather one day. Nellie, Jessie and babys are all going Saturday and take lunch. We have never missed one year going to miss him since he has been there. Last year Grace dear child was with us and Will did enjoy her little Baby Boy so much. But my darling is missing this year. Pa you do not know how I did hate to give her up But she is better off than any of us. But I do miss her. I do wish God could of taken me instead of her and she to of stayed with her little family. She died so happy. I have her little Baby she is a dear little darling. so happy laughs so much and so good. Sam has her little boy. She wanted me to take them both But Sam wanted little Billie. Grace poor darling wanted so bad to see Pa. The girls husnbands will not get to go as they cannot leave their work. They are doing well up here. Making good wages. Now Pa if you can go we would love so much to have you with us and I know it would be one great day for Will. If ever I get every thing so I can take him out and they will let me. I am going to and let him spend his remaining days free poor Boy. Well I do hope you are well and can come. the girls want to see you so bad. I will close with love to all. Come if you can on Sat.
