Ida Genevra Livengood was born June 9, 1889 in Wabash County, Indiana where she was reared and educated. She was married to Alvah Franklin Brubaker on September 23, 1907 and at that time the newly married couple migrated to Glenrock where they became well-known ranchers. Mr. Brubaker was initially employed by the Mountain Home Sheep Company as a camp tender and in 1908 entered into the ranching business with Walter Thayer eight miles south of Glenrock on the Boxelder Road. Here Alvah and Ida lived for many years ranching. They later operated a dairy farm near Glenrock.
Mrs. Brubaker was a member of the Glenrock Rebekah Lodge and Woman's Club. She was a member of the Community Baptist Church and served as superintendent of the Primary Sunday School for over 30 years. In 1951 Mrs. Brubaker was designated Wyoming Mother of the Year by Governor Frank Barrett. She was also a charter member of the Wyoming Pioneer Association.
Mrs. Brubaker is survived by her 12 children: Elbridge, Casper; William, Show Low, Ariz.; Allen, Glenrock; Mabel (Mrs. Lester Hanna), Forrest Grove, Ore.; Mary (Mrs. Donald Neiswanger), Lompoc, Cal.; Jack, Cheyenne; Lewis, Lockport, Ill.; Cheri (Mrs. Keith Oswald), Portola Valley, Cal.; Missy (Mrs. H. N. Nickerson), Casper; Richard, Safford, Ariz.; Catherine (Mrs. James Proffitt, Jr.), Laredo, Tex.; and Shan (Mrs. Joe Pinney), Powell. She is also survived by 46 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967, an only brother, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
