    "168. Capt. Ichabod Phelps, b. Windsor, Ct., 3 April, 1708, m. 10 Dec., 1730, Martha Tillotson, b. 1715, d. Hebron, Ct., 3 Feb., 1786, aged 71 years. He m. 2nd widow Hubbell of Bolton [Post of Hebron]; by her he had no issue. Mr. Phelps settled in that part of Hebron known as Gilead Hill, and about twenty rods south of the Gilead meeting house. He served in the Revolutionary war in Capt. Skinner's Co. as sergeant, enlisting Aug. 25, discharged Nov. 8, 1777. He also served in the war of 1755, as captain in Col. Quartus's company. Frequent reference is made to Captain Ichabod Phelps in manuscript records in State Library, Albany, N. Y., in war of 1755."
