    "1. Humphrey1 Tiffany was probably the man of that name who was baptized at St. John's, Hackney, London, of 4 June 1630, son of Henry and Elizabeth (_____) Tiffany. He died on a journey between Swansea, Massachusetts, and Boston, on 15 July 1685 when he took refuge in a storm under a tree which was struck by lightning.

    Humphrey Tiffany, Rehoboth, 1663, by wife Elizabeth had Sarah born July 6, 1683, and was an inhabitant of Dover for some time but killed July 15, 1685, on the journey between Swanzey and Boston by a stroke of lightening.

    "Humphrey Tiffany … removed in 1681 to Swansea, Mass. An account of his death was given by Samuel Sewall in his Diary, 15 July 1685. 'One Humphry Tiffiny and Frances Low, Daughter of Antony Low, are slain with the Lightening and Thunder about a mile or half a mile beyond Billinges Farm, the Horse also slain, that they rode on, and another Horse in the Company slain … Were coming to Boston.' His widow Elizabeth was appointed administratrix on his estate, 27 Oct. 1685."
