    This certifies that on the 7th day of February A.D. 1896 Holy Baptism was admisnistered by me in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, to Hugh Eugene Warren born at Homestead, Pa. on the 3rd day of January, 1890, son of Mr. Alonzo S. Warren and Mary Ann Warren, his wife. In the presence of Mrs. Warren (signed) Fuller Bergstresser, Pastor, Bethel Luth. Church, Allegheny, PA

    Born so small that his mother used to say he could have fit in a Mason jar, he was baptized at Bethel Lutheran Church, Allegheny, PA (North Side of Pittsburg], by Rev. Fuller Bergstresser (Baptismal Certificate). He was the first in his family to graduate from eighth grade (to mark the occasion, his uncle John Warren gave him $100). He was a runner and won numerous medals in races in the Pittsburgh area. He also dabbled in magic and used the stage name 'Terces' ('secret' spelled backwards) in vaudeville. He was employed as a draftsman for a number of Pittsburgh engineering companies and worked on the drawings for the locks on the Panama canal. Obtained certification as a professional engineer from the State of PA. Supervising Engineer during construction of the Koppers Building in Pittsburgh. Designed the foundations for coke furnaces and steel mills in Pittsburgh and in Wales. Retired from engineering and after a long career as a lay preacher he was ordained in the Lutheran Church, Pittsburgh Synod, ULCA. Designed and built numerous churches for the Synod. Served as superintendent of the Lutheran Old People's Home in Zelienople, PA. Buried in Allegheny Co. Memorial Park.
