- Will of Hugh O?Neall
- State of South Carolina In the name of God amen, know all men by their presence that I Hugh Neal, Millar, of the State aforesaid, County of Laurens District of Ninety Six Being at present Mind and Memory & knowing that it is appointed Unto all men to die, calling to mind the present mortality of my Body do make and ordain this my last will and testament in Manner and forms following & first I commit my soul to God that gave it & my Body to be Decently Buried at the discretion of my Executors & as touchin such worldly goods as it hath Pleased God to endow me with it is my will and pleasure they may be disposed of in the following manner,
- first I desire that all my just debts may be paid out of the first and deadiest of my Estate and next it is my will & Pleasure to give & Bequeath to my son Hugh Neel that part of my Land lying on Eittle River above the Mill originally granted to me for one hundred & fifty acres and also a part of that tract of land in which the Mills and Dwelling house stands so that the Line is to be continued Down the line on the East side of said Survey so for as to intersect the Dwelling house & mill in such manner as will include the said Mill & house in the upper Division-
- And again I give & Bequeath unto my son Charles Neel the Remaining part of said tract of Land lying above the former on Littel River in which the Mill and house stands to be said of as the above directed so as to exclude the said mill and house from being in the lower part but is to be included in my son Hugh's part which tract of was originally granted to also to me for one hundred and fifty acres and again I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Neel that tract of land on Raborns Creek Bounded on Patrick Ryley, Robert Sims & Mary McDaniel containing two hundred & seventy acres and it is also my will and pleasure that the said three tracts of land & buildings with the improvements thereon be by the Executors or three other honest men chosen for that purpose all truly valued estimating each tract according to its Real Value and those that are herein must pay in purpartion to those that are lower so that they may all three have an equal value which valuation is to take place when my son Hugh Neel comes to the years of maturity and give it is my will and pleasure that the Mill and Plantation be Rented and kept up in good repair out of the Rent of the same and surplus if any should be arising there from it to be appropriated to the use of my children then unmarried & also it is my will and pleasure that if by any accident or otherwise the mill should require to be rebuilt then it is my will and pleasure it should be done out of the whole of my children property then unmarried and the profits arising from her afterwards to be kept to replace the principal until all the expense is paid and the profits to be disposed as above discribed until my son Hugh comes to the years maturity with profits to be equally divided among my children as above directed and again I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth McDaniel and to her husband, Thomas McDaniel, one Cow and Calf which is to be considered as their whole quota of all my Estate goods & Chattels and it is also my will and pleasure that my four youngest children be well schooled at the discretion of my Executors out of the whole effects --
- and it is also my will and pleasure that all my moveable effects of every kind be sold as soon as conveyency will admit after my decease and the amount of the whole be equally divided among my four daughters whose names are as follows towit: Patience, Ruth, Ann & Rachel and also if any of my said children should die before they come to the years of maturity or marries, then it is my will and pleasure that their proportional part be equally divided among my old children then unmarried and again it is my will and pleasure that as soon as any of my three sons or four daughters should marry or come to the years of maturity that they may immdieately get their proportionate part alotted to them by this my last will & testament, ratifying this to be my last will and testament and denying all other legatees and bequeaths whatsoever in witness whereof I the said Hugh Neel hath hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of October one thousand and seven hundred and eighty seven and in the twelth year of the Independence of the United States of America.

HUGH2 O'NEALL (Hugh1) was born in 1740 in Christiana, Delaware. He married Mary Parkins, daughter of Charles Parkins and Patience Milborn. He died in 1787 in Milton, Ninety-Six District, South Carolina.
He was a Friend (Quaker). He moved with his parents, Hugh O'Neall and Anne Cox, circa 1750 to "the Susquehanna." He moved with his mother, Anne Cox, after Hugh's death to Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia. The name of Hugh O'Neal [sic] appears on several land transactions in the Mudlick area of (old) Berkeley County. Three surveys and two memorials have dates ranging from Oct. 1766 to Jan. 1775, signed by Jno. Caldwell, Henry O'Neal and William O'Neal. He moved in 1776 to South Carolina. He lived in Milton, Ninety-Six District, South Carolina.
