The Hugh and Sarah (Kelly) McAlpine family came to America from Scotland, arriving on the SS Algeria in New York City on 02 Jun 1880, with two sons, William, age 9, and Alexander, age 7, and three daughters, Agnes, age 4, Margaret, age 3, and Mary, infant.

Two daughters, Ida and Marian, and a son Hugh were born in America.

He was a WWI veteran (who related how he walked across France) and was a farmer. Married at Seneca, Kansas on 09 Feb 1927 to Ruby Pearl Shepherd (02 Feb 1904 -10 Jul 1968).
