- Hugh D., son of Hugh D., was born Aug. 26, 1766, died Sept. 25, 1829, aged 63 years. He was born and passed his youth on his father’s farm, in York Co., Pa. He was eleven years old when his father Lieut. Col. Dinwiddie died. He was one of four children that his mother, Jean Crawford Dinwiddie put into her saddle-bags and fled to the fort with them when Indians attacked their neighbors.S1
- Hugh D. was married to Martha Finley, April 12, 1792, by Rev. Alex. Dobbins, in Hamilton Bann Township, York Co., Pa. The children of this marriage were:S1
- i. John D., born Feb. 25, 1793, died May 22, 1863;S1
- ii. Sarah D., wife of George Heagy, born Dec. 6, 1794, died May 31, 1833.S1
- Hugh D. married the second time Sarah Black, of Adams Co., Pa., born Aug. 18, 1779, died May 13, 1860. Children:S1
- 1. Hugh, born Feb. 10, 1799, died Dec. 21, 1876.S1
- 2. Henry B., born Dec. 30, 1800.S1
- 3. David, born March 20, 1803, died May 16, 1884.S1
- 4. Jance C., born March 6, 1805, died Aug. 10, 1839.S1
