About Hugh Chamberlen
Hugh Chamberlen the younger (1664–1728) was a fashionable English physician in London.
Life
The eldest son of Hugh Chamberlen the elder, he was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, and took the degree of Master of Arts (MA) in 1683 per literas regias. After studying medicine at the University of Leyden he graduated M.D. at Cambridge in 1689. In 1694 he was admitted a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, and was censor in 1707, 1719, 1721.[1]
Chamberlen practised midwifery like his forebears, and had many fashionable patients. He dined with Jonathan Swift, and attended Francis Atterbury in the Tower of London. His own house was in King Street, Covent Garden, but he spent much time in the society of the Duchess of Buckingham and Normanby at Buckingham House.[1]
Cnamberlen died at Buckingham House after a long illness on 17 June 1728.[1]
Family
Chamberlen married three times, and had three daughters.[1]

Will Abstract
- Will of Hugonis Chamberlen, dated "this twenty sixth day of July in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred twenty and three, I Hugh Chanberlen of the Parish of St. Pauls Convent Garden in the County of Middlesex Doctor in Physics being in perfect health and of sound mind and memory yet considering the uncertainty of Life do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following":
- I give to my three daughters Mary, Anna Maria and Charlott Chamberlen the Annual sum of one hundred pounds a year for and during the term of Thirty years to commence from my death.

- ... and the reason I have made no larger provision for my said wife is because she has an ample provision out of her former husband's Estate our of which I have had little or no prifitt and because at how importunity I gave the sum of one thousand pounds to her ___ Mrs. Betty Aston and another thousand pounds whith by our Marriage Agreement if I had outlived her I gave her power to dispose of.
- I bequeath to my __ Elizabeth Aston the sum of twenty pounds of lawful money and to __ of my servants as an shall have lived with me seven years on e years __ ages and to the rest of my servants who shall be in my service at my death forth shillings apiece....

- Appeared personally John Farbson of the Parish of St. James Westminster in the County of Middlesex Apothorary and John Stevens of the same Parish Sergeon and by virtue of their Corporall Oaths taken on the ___ Evengelists deposed that they well knew Hugh Chamberlen of the parish of St. Paul Covent-Garden in the said County Doctor in physics deceased and have often seen him write letters and other writings and also Subscribe his name and thereby became well acquainted with his manner and character of handwriting and they having now seen the Schedule hereunto annexed beginning thus & it known to all persons and ending thus, this 5th day of March 1725/6 and thus inscribed (Hugh Chamberlen) do say and depose that they verily believe the said Schedule to be totally wrote and Subscribed by and with the proper hand of the said hugh Chamberlen Doctor in Physics deceased.

II. Then there was Nathaniel Bacon, Jr., first cousin once removed of the elder Nathaniel. He was son of Thomas Bacon, and was born in England January 2, 1647, and died in Virginia October 26, 1676. His wife was Elizabeth Duke, daughter of Sir Edward Duke and sister of Sir John Duke, and she married, secondly, Capt. Thomas Jarvis, a ship captain, who lived at Hampton Town, in Virginia, and, thirdly, married Edward Mole. By Bacon she had at least one child, Elizabeth, born 12 April, 1674, who married Hugh Chamberlain, physician to the king.
