Howard Retzlaff

 Grand Haven Township resident Howard H. Retzlaff, 68, died Dec. 7, 1991 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
  He was born in the township Nov. 9, 1923 to Henry and Mabel Irene Retzlaff and married Helen Yettaw Nov. 25, 1944 in Denver.
  A life resident of the area, he retired from Eagle Ottawa Leather Co., in 1986 after 43 years.  Mr. Retzlaff was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, served as a corporal and sergeant of the guard in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II, was a life member of the Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post No. 2326, Grand Haven Veteran's of Foreign Wars and served in the honor guard for 18 years.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; daughters Beverly (Gerald) Warner, Spring Lake, Arlene (Bernard) Bennett, Katy, Texas and Charyn (Roger) Conant, Phoenix, Ariz.; sons Gerald (Nancy) Retzlaff, Katy, Texas;  Roger Retzlaff, Grand Haven and Gary Retzlaff, Spring Lake;  11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister Esther (Marvin) Guy, Phoenix; brother Russell (Bernadette) Retzlaff, Temple, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son, Scott.
  A funeral service was held this morning at St. Paul's United Church of Christ and interment followed at Pine Ridge Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Butterworth Hospital Oncology Department.
   Funeral arrangements were handled by VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home of Grand Have.
