DUNKIRK - Howard A. Dorman, 87, of 206 Liberty St., died Friday (May 2, 2003) in Brooks Memorial Hospital. He was born July 28, 1915, in Fredonia, the son of Gerald and Mamye Salhoff Dorman.

He was a 1934 graduate of Fredonia High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, serving from 1941 to 1945 as a medical technician. He had been employed by Pomfret C&E Agway, Terwilliger & Salzer Furniture, Fredonia Hardware and retired in 1968 as a truck driver from Lake Shore Delivery Inc., now known as Hall's Trucking. He was a volunteer driver for the Chautauqua County Office of the Aging Medical Transport Service, Green Thumb of the New York State Thruway, a member of the Teamster Local 649, a life member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was active with various activities and a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

He is survived by a son, George F. Dorman of Dunkirk, two grandsons: Robert J. Dorman of Felton, Pa., and Jon M. Dorman of Monroe, Ga.; and a sister, Anna May Cole of Gerry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred Tynan Dorman, whom he married May 6, 1942, and who died Jan. 9, 1988.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Larson-Timko Funeral Home. Interment will be in Willowbrook.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
