[Alamance County_Feb 2006_backup.FTW] BURLINGTON — Mrs.. Hortense M. Shoffner, 96, of 3615 S. Mebane St., died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after two years of failing health. A native of Chatham County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Walter Reynolds Shoffner, and the daughter of Mr. Norris Edwin Mann and Mrs.. Mattie Perry Mann, both deceased. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and the Golden Rule Sunday School Class. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs.. Elene S. Coble of Haw River and Mrs.. Ann S. Smith of Burlington; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina by the Rev. Norman M. Whitney, pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church. The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday before the service.
