MADISON - Homer P. Simmons, 68, Madison was dead on arrival at an Emporia hospital Friday, He had cancer. He was born April 2, 1908 at Mangum, Okla., and lived at Kansas City before he moved to Madison in 1971. He worked for Corn Products International before he retired. He was married to Florence Livingston Aug. 17, 1936 at Auburn, Neb. She survives. He was preceded in death by a son, Homer Lee Simmons. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Janet McGrury, Beatrice, Neb. Mrs. Cheryl Moran, DeSoto and Mrs. Christine Jones, Belleville, Ark,; five brothers, Truman Daniels, San Bernardino, Calif., Debs Simmons, Wichita Falls, Tex. Bill Simmons, Springdale, Ark., W. D, Simmons, Claypool, Ariz. and B. S. Simmons, Claremore, Okla,; two sisters, Mrs. Jewell Cooper, Texas and Mrs. Willie Lee Cooper, California, and four grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home at Madison. Burial will be in Blaklely Cemetery at Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
