  29. "H. A. Holibaugh, cigar manufacturer and merchant; Marlborough. In thesubject of this biography was born in Marlborough tp., May 14, 1855. Heis the son of Samuel and Sarah [Ringer] Holibaugh, a notice of whom willappear in another part of this work. H. A. Holibaugh, or Alonzo, as heis more familiarly called, was reared on his father's farm, during whichtime he received a common school education, finishing at the unionschools of Marlborough. He learned the trade of making cigars beforereaching his majority. In 1876 he was traveling, wholesaling cigars,but at the end of about six months came back and re-commenced working athis trade, which he continued until March, 1880. He then purchased astock of provisions, and opened of grocery and provision store inMarlborough, in connection with his cigar manufacturing, and sincestarting, has been very successful in his dealings, being one of theleading merchants of his town. His cigars are also some of the best inthe market, and his goods are found all over the state. The "Rocket" ismanufactured by him, and this brand is one of the best now on themarket. Mr. Holibaugh keeps an average force of two men at work all thetime. He was married in 1877 to Amanda Powell, daughter of William andLydia [Lower] Powell, and by her has had two children-Robert M., and onethat died in infancy. Mr. Holibaugh is a young man of energy anddetermination, and is sure to make life a success. He is a Republicanin politics, a member of the Disciples' Church, and a member of lodgeNo. 266, I. O. O. F. of Alliance. Mrs. Holibaugh belongs to theMethodist Episcopal Church."
