Jackye Plummer said that Hiram was the one that got drunk and lost the Indian papers on the way to Talequah to apply for citizenship in the Cherokee Nation. He has a grandson (Don George) who was an engineer with the State of Californi a, living in Sacramento, who is interested in genealogy.

Hiram applied for c itizenship with an "Application for Citizenship" as follows:

Gentlemen: The undersigned your petitioner this day makes this, his Application, for citizens hip in the Cherokee Nation in the Indian Territory in accordance with the const itution and laws of said Nation and respectfully makes the following statement of the one Stephen George of this his Application, to wit: That he is the son of Stephen C. George and the undersigned fully believes he was on the rolls bel onging to said tribe. The undersigned hereby presents the above facts as the lawful ground for his application for Cherokee Citizenship by blood, and respec tfully awaits the time when his Application shall be truly heard and tried. Re spectfully submitted. Age 49 years. Postoffice Mill Creek Chickasaw Nation.

Before me, the undersigned, a Commissioner of the U.S. Circuit Court, Eastern District of Texas, in and for the County and State aforesaid, personall y appeared H. William Lewis, who, after being by me duly sworn, states that he is 49(?) years of age and a citizen of Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, and t hat he is personally acquainted with Hirma Walker George, who is an applicant f or citizenship in the cherokee Nation, I.T., and affiant further states that he has known the said Hiram Walker George for the past 21 years and knows that he is and has been recognized and treated by his neighbors, acquaintances, and th e public generally as a person having some Indian blood; and that the complexio n, physical apearance, language and manners of the said Hiram Walker George ind icate that the said Hiram Walker George is of indian blood. That from the abov e facts and circumstances, and from statements made to me by the said Hiram Wal ker George affiant states he has every reason to believe thatthe said hiram Wal ker George is of Indian Blood.

Affiant further states that h has no interest whatever in the prosecution of the claim of the said Hiram Walker George to ci tizenship in the Cherokee Nation, I.T.
