From the Edgerton Reporter: Hiram J Davis (Tobacco Reporter, Edgerton, Wisconsin, Thursday, January 18, 1934) Hiram J Davis, 80, passed away at his home Friday at 1:46 p.m. following a lingering illness. He was born in Allegheny Co., NY, April 19, 1854. He came to Wisconsin with his mother when he was three months old. His father died a few months before he was born. They made their home in Albion and Mr. Davis attended Albion Academy. On December 25, 1881, he was married to Maria Wescott at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Wescott, town of Albion. They resideed on a farm near Albion, later moving to the Wescott homestead near Lake Koshkonong. Seventeen years ago they moved to their home in Edgerton where Mr. Davis died. He is survived by his wife and two children, Mrs. Rudolph Ellingsrud and Durrell Davis, both of Edgerton. There are two grandchildren, one daughter, Leo, preceded him in death 30 years ago. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and 2 o'clock at the Masonic Temple. The Rev. Guy Wilkinson of the Methodist church officiated. Burial was in Fassett cemetery. Pall bearers were Ike Spike, Andrew McIntosh, Weetman Dickinson, Henry Taylor, James Arthur, and Sam Hall, all members of the Masonic lodge of which Mr. Davis has been a member for the past 24 years. He was also a member of the Fassett cemetery association and the modern Woodman. Among those from out of town attending were mrs. Sarah Conway, Mrs. Mary Stroupe, Frank Conway, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Conway, Mrs. Alice May, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Harps, Chicago; Mrs. Louise Babcock, Oshkosh; Mrs. W. D. James and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wescott, Fort Atkinson; Ed Wescott, Port Washington; Mr. and Mrs. Theo Leslie and daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Serstad Stoughton.
