In January 1937, their home on 34th Street was inundated with more than 6 feet of water from the Ohio River. Joe, Don and Marge were sent to live in Pensacola while Joe Sr and Hilda relocated the household. Hilda was pregnant with Tom at the time.

medical issues: angina, quadrupal bypass surgery, congestive heart, osteoporosis, diagnosed 4/2000 Padgetts disease of the bone.
