PERSONAL: "The Malta Furniture Manufactory was founded in 1841 by Jackson J. Palmer whose father had been a cabinet maker in Malta in 1818. In 1858 Hiel Dunsmoor and Sam McCaslin bought the establishment. In 1861 Dunsmoor and Son became the proprietors. The majority of the wood used was walnut. They made furniture for homes and businesses. Records show chairs made for the Court House cost 50 cents each. Many fine pieces of Dunsmoor furniture may be seen in homes in this area."
