  1. The Ebingen Letter (Valentine 1958) places her parents "near Sharpsburg" in what is now Washington County VA.
The Ebingen letter is no longer extant. An earlier researcher (James A. Kelly) visited Ebingen about 1936, located a baptismal record for Jacob Beck, and noted an annotation on the side of the record saying that he had gone to America, and settled in Maryland. He too that as confirmation of the Ebingen record. Neither the content of the Ebingen letter nor the annotation of Jacob Becks baptismal record have been reliably confirmed. As a result this view remains unproven.
