He was a painter/contractor during his 60 working years in St. Paul His application for citizenship was dated January 1898. His witnesses were H. W. Bunde and Albert H. Gerber. It is interesting to note that each of these men witnessed for the others final citizenship papers on the same day. Hermann and Ida were married in Trinity Lutheran Church. It was located on Wabasha and Tilton (10th Street). It was a Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Church. It was also a German Church. There was also a German school attached to the Church. All of Hermann's children attended this school.

(Medical):Prostatic Hypertrophy with obstruction that lasted for 3 years. He also had senility. He underwent surgery on 25 Apr 1938 and died on that day.
