Children unknown Dec 20 1846 Hermann & Henrietta Hitzfeld arrive on ship Karl Ferdinand at Galveston Texas from Donstorf,Germany. 1847 Family moves to Fredericksburg receives of lot 176 in Fredericksburg, Gillespie County, Texas; Hitzfeld and Conrad Wehmeyer open "trink store" (saloon) selling liquor and tobacco Decenber 15 signed petition to create Gillespie County. Listed as Hitzfeldt. Before 1850 – wife Henrietta dies, as she is not listed on 1850 Census. No children are listed, but a son Herman Hitzfeld is listed on 1860 Census as age 13. He was also listed on the genealogy from the Klingelhoefer family association as a step-son of Elizabeth Klingelhoefer. If he was the son of the third wife, whom Herman adopted, as suggested by some genealogists, he would not have been recorded as the second wife's step-son. 1850 – Listed as Hermann Hitzfeld, age 47, occupation, carpenter, birthplace, Germany. 1851, December 2 —George H.F. marries Elizabeth Klingelhoefer 1852, November 1 George H.F. becomes naturalized U.S. citizen.
March 15, 1853 —Elizabeth Klingelhoefer Hitzfeld dies. October, 17 1853 – Hitzfeld marries Wilhelmine Graber Kuehne, widow of Gottfried Kuehne. She has one son from previous marriage, Hermann Kuehne. 1854, September 24 – son Fritz Johann Heinrich Hitzfeld born 1856, March 12—son Wilhelm (William) Jakob Conrad Hitzfeld born 1857 -- daughter Wilhelmina Hitzfeld born sometime that year, either just before or just after father's death February 10, 1857 "George" Herman Freidrich Hitzfeld dies. He is buried in Der Stadt Freidhof (city cemetery) as Hermann F. Hitzfeldt. References
