He lived in Oakfield, NY and in Buffalo, NY. He was a fireman on therailroad and was killed in train wreck. The newspaper article reads:North Tonawanda, April 17 (1906) - Herbert J. Wrigley of Buffalo andW.L. Brown of West Philadelphia, PA both firemen on the Erie, werekilled in head on collision near La Salle at 3:30 o'clock yesterdaymorning. Locomotives No. 1064, Thomas S. Ellis, engineer, andWrigley, fireman, drawing a heavy freight train southbound, andlocomotive No. 1330, M. J. Kelly, engineer and Brown, fireman, drawingonly a caboose and running toward the Falls, came together whilerunning at a high rate of speed. Engineer Kelly's leg was broken,Engineer Ellis's right hand was crushed. Both engines were demolishedand two cars, loaded with oranges, behind engine 1064 were telescoped.Fireman Wrigley was caught in the cab between a board and the boilerof No. 1064, where the hot steam scalded him frightfully. His headwas crushed to a pulp. It was necessary to tear away the wrecked carsand lower the tank of the engine before his body was freed. Asevidence of how Wrigley's body was boiled, it was observed that it waspossible to pick a pocketbook he had to pieces with the fingers.Fireman Brown's neck was broken and his right leg was crushed.
