ROCHESTER - Herbert Melvin Lauchner, 86, of Rochester passed away on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1922, in Andrew, the son of Herbert and Edith Mildred Oglesby Lauchner. He married Frances Mae Brachear on June 25, 1947, in Springfield.
Herbert was a member of Rochester United Methodist Church. He retired after many years with Capitol Plumbing and Heating Supply Company in Springfield. He served as a Tech 4 with an Army Engineers Supply Company during World War II.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven, in 1970.
He is survived by his wife, Frances of Rochester; a son, David T. Lauchner (wife, Sandra Gail) of Highland; and two grandchildren, Christopher and April Lauchner.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Swank officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Rochester United Methodist Church or the Rochester Rescue Squad.
