HENRY VADEN lived in Virginia. Henry is the first documented member of the family in the colony. He was first mention in a certificate for taking three runaway Indians in 1868. He later patented 800 acres of land in that county on the second branch of Swift Creek. It is not know where Henry came from. Generally speaking, the family is of French Hugenot heritage and have been living the the Channel Islands for centuries, but may have spent some time in England before migrating to the colonies. The name is also spelled Vodin, Fading, Vaiden, Voding, Vandin, Vadon, and Vadin. Living in Bristol Parrish, Henrico County, Virginia in 1694, Henry was an immigrant planter and obtained a land patent from the King of England for 700 acres. He may have had other children but the church records were destroyed. Henry married ELIZABETH. Henry died about 1729 in Chesterfield County, Virginia. |
