Probably from Napolean, Henry, Ohio newspaper He was the fourth child of Frederick and Elizabeth (Bostelmann) Rohrs. He came to America in 1858 with his parents. He settled in the Hanover Settlement in Napoleon Township, Henry Co., OH. He worked for the Wabash Railroad for four years before returning to farming. After several years, he moved into Napoleon to enter the grocery business. He eventually entered the banking business, and at the time of his death was Vice-President of the Napoleon State Bank. He also served in several public offices. The first was trustee of Freedom Township, where he also served as justice of the peace and as assessor. He was next elected as county commissioner and served a total of three terms in that position. He also served on the Napoleon city council a number of years, the Board of Education, and the water works board. He also served with ex-President Rutherford B. Hayes on the board of trustees of the State Asylum for the Insane at Toledo. The funeral services took place at his residence on Haley Avenue in Napoleon, OH on Saturday, July 27, 1918. The service was conducted by Rev. F. J. Lankenau of St. _________ Lutheran Church. At the time of his death he had 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. |
