TWO KILLED

BY TRAIN NO. 3, AT DALE, ON THE ERIE

They were Mr. and Mrs. H. Richards of Varysburg, Each 60 years old.

Mr. and Mrs. Richards of Varysburg were struck by the locomotive drawing passenger train No. 3 on the New York, Lake Erie & Western Railway Tuesday morning at 9.50 o'clock while crossing the track in a carriage at Miller's crossing just south of Dale station, and both were killed, Mrs. Richards instantly and Mr. Richards dying within 30 minutes.
The horse had cleared the track in safety and was uninjured, but the carriage was struck squarely and Mr. Richards and wife were hurled against the crossing fence with such force as to break it down.

At the point where the accident occurred there is a deep cut and Mr. Richards drove onto the tracks without being able to see whether or not they were clear.
