Henry Rhoads Sr. - Born Hendreek Rhodt Jr. abt 1708 in Rhodt or Mannheim, Germany. Died on 12 APR 1774 in Ursina, Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. Came to USA on the Ship William to Pa 31 Oct 1737. All the sons of Henry Rhoads Sr and Catherine Rhinehardt (abt 1710 in Rhodt or Mannheim, Germany - abt 1780 in Ursina, Somerset Co., Pennsylvania; married abt 1729 in Germany) served in the Revolutionary War.

5th Minister of the Stony Creek Church, Elected 1768 Ord. 1768, ended at his death In the Rhoads and Newmyer family histories there are references to Henry Rhoads Dr., hat he "exhorted the propel in his congregation". He was an "exhorting Deacon". He was elected to the ministry in Stony Creek because he was a man of great wealth for his day. He also owned the grist mill. He was well-read man for his day and, according to research, quite proficient in his preaching and knowledge of the scriptures". (Quotation of H. Austin Cooper.)

Recorded Bedford County Courthouse on January 28, 1774 in Will Book 1 page 5. Winessed by Abraham Cable, Johanny Fraze (Cross) Jacob Cable. On April 12, 1774 John Cross and Jacob Cable attested to the fact that the above was the last will of Henry Rhoads. The same day Michael Syll and Abraham Cable were appointed Executors.
