Henry Mohring dies at 89

Henry Mohring, 89, of Ionia, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services for Henry Mohring will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag will officiate. Burial will be in the New Hampton City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the church an hour prior to the service. Henry Paul Mohring was born March 3, 1923, in rural Chickasaw County, the son of Christian and Ida (Venz) Mohring. He received his education from rural Chickasaw County schools. On April 22, 1954 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Springer at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Henry worked for a brief time for the railroad, and then farmed the rest of his life near Ionia. He was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. His interests included fishing, hunting, playing cards and going to auctions. Henry always looked forward to sharing his life with his Family. Living family members include his wife, Dorothy Mohring of Ionia; three children, Roger (Deb) Mohring of New Hampton, Carolyn (Kenny) Amdahl of Hubert, NC and Jolene (Frank) Wilts of Charles City; six grandchildren, Nicole Mohring, Steven Amdahl, Bradley (Courtney) Amdahl, and Mckinna, Bailee and Abbie Wilts; three great grandchildren, Landon Pate and Leah and Carter Amdahl. Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arnold Mohring, Fred Mohring; and two sisters, Ida Graham and Elma Zubrod.
